Have you ever considered being water baptized? Maybe you still have some unanswered questions about baptism concerning why you should do it, what is involved and why it is so important. This discussion aims to clarify some of these questions and provide you with a better understanding of water baptism.
What is water baptism?
Water baptism is one of the most beautiful, significant and life-defining moments in your journey as a Christian. This simple act of obedience as a Believer, has powerful supernatural significance. However, before delving deeper into why you should get water baptized, let’s first explore what water baptism is.
A public declaration
Water baptism is a public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ and the outward demonstration of the inward transformation that takes place when we receive Him as our Lord and Saviour.
A symbol of a transformed life
The water itself is symbolic of a grave. As you are immersed, your old self dies and is buried just as Jesus died and was buried. In the same way, just as Jesus rose to life again, you too rise from the water as a symbol of new life in Him as a brand new creation, free from the guilt of your past sin and shame.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Jesus — Our example
One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized Him in the Jordan River. As Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.
Jesus, Himself, was baptized in the Jordan River, even though He was without sin. He humbled Himself to undergo this process so that He could identify with us and give us an example to follow. Mark 1: 9-11 (NLT)

Who should get water baptized?
Every Believer should be water baptized as a crucial part of their journey with Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Every single person who has made the decision to believe in Christ and received salvation should take this step of faith. The only prerequisite for water baptism is belief in Christ.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
